“Memento Mori | Memento Vivere”

An Intimate Conversation about Your Future Death

Does the idea of getting comfortable with dying or planning your own funeral make you want to curl up and die? Join Cathy Wurzer, veteran news anchor and journalist, to find out how she would answer that very question. At this special event, the tables are turned as a death doula and a mortician, Jane Whitlock and Angela Woosley,  interview Cathy about her preferences for end-of-life and deathcare. We’ll use this as a launch point for a conversation about things you may want to consider as you think about your own end-of-life and after-death plans. Join us to learn how pondering our deaths in the future can actually help us live more fully in the present!

“Death and Taxes: An Interactive Workshop”: Financial Planning with the End in Mind

Most of us avoid the topic of death but planning for the inevitable doesn’t have to be scary. In fact, it is a gift to yourself and your loved ones. Leaving behind a financial and legal mess after your death adds to heartache and oftentimes leads to hard feelings.

This one hour workshop, presented by Nicole Boor, Wealth Manager with Accredited Investors Wealth Management of Edina, Minnesota and End in Mind Board member, will present a holistic overview of what questions we should be asking ourselves and our loved ones to plan for the end of life. She will cover basic financial topics like saving, investing, and setting goals and will also dive deep into estate planning as an important part of end-of-life planning.

“Shelf Life: Celebrating Vitality, Embracing Mortality” – A Virtual Conversation with Author Normal Schuh

SHELF LIFE Celebrating Vitality, Embracing Mortality

At some point, you will inevitably face the end of your existence on this earth. Does the thought of your “expiration date” cause you angst or fear? Though seemingly at opposite ends of the spectrum, life and death are inextricably intertwined. Confronting death and seeking a deeper understanding of its implications, challenges, and nuances softens the fear of dying and invites us to live vibrantly, grow in unique ways, forge new trails, and discover untapped potential.

SHELF LIFE was born of an introspective and interactive graduate-level course on mortality, which the author created and taught at St. Mary’s University in Minneapolis, Chautauqua Institution in upstate New York, and other lifelong-learning organizations. An intimate, engaging memoir, SHELF LIFE is also a lucid guide to thriving in life’s Third Act while befriending the inevitable.
